I’ll be doing some other things, like chocolate-dipped pretzels, peanut butter-dipped pretzels, chocolate-dipped Mini Oreo’s (Which is a huge favorite!), Brownies (I’ll try to measure it out!!!), Cap’n Crunch Berries Bars (made just like Rice Crispies Treats, but with Cap’n Crunch berries cereal).  And Chocolate Chip Cookies, which for some reason I can never make.  Harder than heck recipes?  Piece of cake.  Basic cookie?  Heck no.  It NEVER turns out right, and each time something different.  Maybe I will try once again once I get my new ovens.

I also added this recipe when I came across it in my books:

TURTLE PUMPKIN PIE

106961_640x428

It has been a HUGE hit with people when I make it for potlucks.  It’s simple, and tastes like you put hours of work into it!

As I mentioned, I am doing something different for the holidays and am making a Lasagna.   One of the things that is making me like it is the idea that I can make it the day before and reheat it Christmas Day.  It will depend since I will be busy Christmas Eve.  Either way it will taste awesome. Here are the recipes I will be using.  (The Lasagna has a picture step by step I pulled off of the site from an earlier post.)

Now I am off to relax so I can sleep hopefully at a reasonable time. If there are any other recipes you want to see, sound off in the comments!

Thanksgiving Recipes!

new-recipes-added-1

Thanksgiving is often a time of eating… and eating!

For those of us that are cooks, we spend a lot of time in the kitchen making food.  One of the sad things I noticed a few years ago, is that the websites for food recipes get lagging.  And then, last year at Thanksgiving, my mom accidently threw away the turkey instructions.  Luckily, I was patient.  I ended up getting Butterball’s instructions after waiting for a half an hour.

Yes, half an hour to load a page that tonight took not even a full second.

So, when I dreamed up this idea of a food blog, I not only wanted to share recipes, as well as my family’s, but I also wanted a place that my ladies could store their most used recipes and not worry if half the United States was trying to use the Kraft site when they wanted to.

I went through my menu for Thanksgiving and I am presenting the recipe’s that I will be coming here to use.

And yes, I added the Butterball’s instructions in case the unthinkable happens.

Again.

Also, I did my first recipe off the top of my head, the Pan Gravy.  If you have any input to help me improve for next time, let me know.

Here is the Recipe’s (At the end I will also put the shopping list for if you do the same menu.  I didn’t add the simple things like Cranberry sauce, corn and so on.) :

Also, I use this app for shopping: OurGroceries.  If you click on the word, it will take you to the site.  You can add things to the site, and it will share it to your phone.  I love it especially since I took the time to put all the items in the same categories as the store I shop at all the time.  It may have taken me a little bit of time at the beginning, but it is quick and easy now.  Also, you can share the list with others, and if they pick it up and mark it off the list, it will come off yours.  Perfect if you are team shopping, or if you add things as you run out, and your significant other, or roomate picks them up later.

I am off to relax, I need to be elsewhere tomorrow morning, but I am planning on shopping as soon as possible tomorrow to avoid the rushes!

More Recipes Added!

new-recipes-added-1

Sorry, I was feeling unwell last week, but I caught up today and moved past to the 5th page.  I will try to get more done this week for you to be ready for Thanksgiving.

New items added: We have a Holiday section on the bottom of the menu screen.  You can tap any of the holidays we have down there or hit the category of Holidays to see all recipes that we think that would appropriate to that holiday.  If you see any that should be added, please drop us a line.  It will only be on the bottom menu for you to use.

This has been a busy one, I am in the middle of the cookies.  Hopefully, the next entries will finish the dessert section so that I can work on the other items.

Now here is the entries for today (if I do a repeat, sorry!!!!)!

Not as much today, but I will be getting the rest of the recipes from this page tomorrow.  For those of you looking for where these are in the Top menu, they are under Desserts and Cake.  Some of them will reappear on the Pie category, (the cheesecakes) but I wanted them under the cupcakes to make it easier to find.  Under Cakes is the regular cakes, then Cupcakes and then Icing.

I am still working on the pages, once I am done with those, I will go back for the recipes that had posts describing how to make and add the instructions into the recipes with the pictures to help those making them for the first time.  Once I can be online with the other ladies doing the food blog, this may end up going faster.

Thanks for joining us and I will see you guys tomorrow!

More Recipes Added!

Yep, I decided to work some more tonight.  Or last night, depending when you read this.

Just to give you a breakdown of what we have, I have 6 pages of nothing but desserts. I got 1 page done tonight of those desserts.

So far I have 38 Menu items linked up. We have 295 pages published, and while some of them are headers and such, the majority of them are recipes.  And that has nothing on what the ladies have in our One Note for recipes to come.

I also went back and added Yields.  If there is a line instead of the amounts, then I had no idea what it was.  If a name, like Cook for Cook Time is crossed out and another name inserted means that measurement was given instead.

Now for the recipes I have finished tonight (please forgive me if I miss any):

I told you I did a lot of recipes!   And these are all courtesy of the new layout, all I had to do was copy from there to give you the names and the pics with links to the recipes.

Enjoy and I look forward to showing what else we have on the site!

On Our Way!

I know it has been awhile, but we are working on this.  Actually, I am working to organize it to hand it back over to the ladies who literally have tons of recipes all prepped to be added.

As you can see, we have streamlined things to make it easier for you to find what you want.

One of the things with this site is that all the widgets are on the bottom of the screen.  Leaving the page clean for you to view on whatever device you are using.  I also invite you to follow our Facebook page since there are often recipes I post there that I find on my walls.

Right now, all I have done is the breads.  But after I finish posting this, I will work on whatever is next on the listings.  I am having to go in and ‘touch’ each recipe to make sure it will sync with the new format.

For the menu system, we have revamped that as well. The categories are on the bottom of the page as a cloud.  We knew that the old menu was hard to use on a tablet (especially since I am one of those tablet users for cooking!) and wanted to find an easier way for you to use the site and find what you are looking for.  We went for a restaurant style menu since we are all familiar with that setup.  Once you click on the main menu, it will show you what all is offered under that category.  If you wish to refine it, we attempted to do that with sub-categories.  You can always look to see what the sub-categories are since they are listed under the main listing.

At the very top of the footer section is the search option.  I have used this to find what I am looking for.

We are also looking at more options to feature recipes on the now static front page.   Once we are done with the organizing, we will replace the front page with a picture equivalent of the categories.

I will also be showcasing the recipes that I am organizing so that you can see what wonderful options we have! The first is below:

Nut Bread

Wendy’s Banana Bread

Grandma Rexroad Buttermilk Biscuits

James Beard Home Style Bread Recipe

I am working on each recipe, and I will be looking for my instructions on how to do the biscuits to add to that recipe.

Enjoy and please let us know what you think!
